We long to see justice done, right? We want verdicts in our legal system which are fair and equitable and consistent. We want to see wrongdoing punished and corrected. Justice needs to be satisfied, law needs to be upheld,
BUT… what if it was you? What if it was you in the dock, accused #1, facing the charge sheet? But not just in a criminal sense in SA High Court somewhere.
What if you were in God’s courtroom, facing Christ as Judge and needing to answer the charge sheet of infinite sin against a holy, infinite God? See, justice needs to be done. There will only be two verdicts in that day, and one or the other of them will be passed on every person: either “condemned” or “justified,” hell or heaven, eternal death or eternal life.
How will God judge you on that day? Am you ready to take your stand in the divine courtroom and hear the Judge pass an eternal sentence on you? What verdict would He come to? On what basis would that verdict be made? How does your life now, the way you live now affect that legal decision at the bar before God?
The Bible shows us that there is only one way to live that truly pleases God…
“And without faith it is impossible to please him…” (Hebrews 11:6, ESV)
This is a crucial issue – it is faith in God that causes sinners to be regarded as righteous.
God declared Abraham to be righteous in His sight on the basis of one thing alone – Abraham’s faith. But this is not just for Abram – this is for us too…!!!! We receive salvation by faith in Christ, and then live by faith in Christ, resting in His finished work as the basis of our security.
